Presenters Reg. & Proposal forms

We are looking for speakers, from all parts of humanity- academic and pragmatic, scientific and clerical, mainstream as well as unusual. This is an esoteric conference, we expect you to be a bit outside the “norm”. Whether you are an experienced speaker or have developed your skills or knowledge through personal work and have never spoken before, all we ask is that you know your stuff and can convey it to your audience well. We are looking for material that is intermediate to advanced level, and if it’s an introduction to something, it should be an introduction to something that is not basic information. This is not the place to prove to skeptics that “this stuff is real”, the people who are coming here already have accepted that some of this is real, this is the place to share your knowledge and techniques (and can expect hard questions from other people who understand the basic concepts already).

Please read this, and the presenter page, then fill out the Speakers Information form and then fill out one Workshop Information form for each class you are offering. I hope that by doing it that way we’ll reduce work for you.

If the forms aren’t working there’s an email form at the bottom of the page you can copy and mail to

Workshop Information

Speakers use the normal registration form, as well as a proposal for a workshop(s) using the above links. Our basic outline is for four tracks: Healing, Divination, Energy work/magic, Spirituality/folklore/religion,  but many subjects cross those lines. We aren’t dedicating one room to each track, we’ll be assigning the class to the room by expected size, and there may be a few more from one track than another- we’ll just present the best workshops we can get. If what you want to share isn’t in one of those categories, suggest it anyway if it sounds good, we’ll use it. Note while we are exploring spiritual and religious practice, our focus on ritual is sharing how it impacts people and their lives and work. Our theme this year is Natural Forces and Energies, but that’s only a taking off point for exploring our interaction with Nature, and some of the current stress about predicting the future.

Scheduling

As seasoned presenters, we’ve often experienced frustration of missing the workshops of other speakers scheduled against our own, we may ask a few of you do a workshop twice, shift classes around so we can avoid our speakers missing each others’ classes. Please keep checking the list of workshops as it grows, and let us know if there’s a speaker or class you really don’t want to miss. The deadline is the end of September. At that point we have to finalize the schedule.

We want to off the chance for each workshop to be as long as it needs to be.  While an introductory workshop may fit well in an hour, we understand that intermediate and advanced subjects take more time. So feel free to tell us how long your workshop will take- one hour, 90 minutes, two or even more hours? Perhaps your subject works best in more than one session. If you do want to do one of these longer more “in depth” workshops, do plan in breaks, because even if you can talk for three hours straight some of our bladders can’t “listen” for that long. Many have asked us for workshops and teachers at the intermediate and advanced levels, and we want to make it possible for you to do such a class if you like. Please put any pre-requisites in the class description (for example: attendees MUST be able to ground and center, or students must already have Reiki I before attending Reiki II, or knowledge of basic herbalist terms is expected in herbalist workshops).

Panels

In an effort to facilitate communication between the many groups who have so much to share, we will be having several panels (as well as regular workshops) at which several of our speakers will discuss topics from their unique perspectives. If there’s a topic that excites you whether you want to watch or be on it, contact Programming and suggest it. Please go to the Panel page (and let us know if you want to be on a panel). You do not have to be a speaker to be a panelist, only to have a valuable perspective to add to the discussion.

The Glossary Page

As we deal with subjects that are out of the ordinary, we often create or adopt specialized vocabularies that can sound like jargon to those unfamiliar with the terms. Different traditions may even use the same words to mean different things. We would be very grateful if you could put any terms you are not sure would be generally understood on our Glossary Page (which will be printed in the program). We hope this community project will help break down barriers between groups who may be saying much the same thing, but using different words to say it, as well as making others aware of new terms.

Reserving and Honoraria

We know that talented speakers richly deserve to be reimbursed for their efforts. Sadly, since we are just starting up, we can’t pay to put you up, or even pay your travel expenses. Everyone involved is paying his or her own registration, hotel, food, and transportation, although we will have some provisions in the hospitality suite. However this year we will be able to take $10 off your registration for each class proposal we accept, so if you give four workshops, and register before May, you’re registration is covered. We’ll let you know as soon as we decide whether we like your proposal. If you can donate your time and talent this year, we shall try to show our gratitude in other ways. If you have special dietary needs that the hotel and local “take out” restaurants are likely not to meet, contact us and we’ll try to take care of you.

If you want to be communicate with the organizers, other presenters, vendors and volunteers, we’ve created a yahoo group for brainstorming and sharing ideas for making this a better con. That’s where to go to arrange room or ride sharing if you want to. We also have files with posters you can download, print and distribute.

*We have added the option of sponsoring a speaker if you wish.

Skype

If you have skype capability and a workshop you’d like to share, but can’t get to the con for time or distance reasons, please let us know if you can give us an hour in front of your computer, so our attendees can still benefit from your knowledge.

If you want to be involved in the planning discussions, arrange room or ride sharing, or just ask questions, join us on yahoo.
